Call for Abstracts
The Call for Abstracts is now open and the deadline for submissions is December 16, 2013 .
Abstracts are to address seniors’ fall or injury prevention, either for research studies or practice/community initiatives.
1. Poster Display + Two-Minute Presentation during a plenary session . Presenters will participate in the poster session; standing by their poster during designated times, and will also have the opportunity to present their poster in a two-minute time slot during a plenary session featuring two-minute presentations of all posters. This will allow presenters to convey the main ideas or messages related to their poster to all delegates, and ensure all delegates have the opportunity to learn about each poster.
Poster presenters will be provided with a poster board and fasteners. The maximum poster size that will be accommodated is 4 feet by 4 feet (48 inches by 48 inches). Accepted posters will be in place for the entire conference and poster presenters must stand by their poster during the designated session times.
2. Oral presentation:
Theme presentations . Presenters will have 15 -20 minutes for their presentation including a question period. Oral presentations will be placed into sessions according to theme, and each session will have 4-5 presenters. Each presenter will have access to a laptop, projector and screen.
Workshops/roundtables/symposia : Presenters are invited to submit an abstract for a workshop, roundtable or symposia. Each will be 60 minutes in length, including a question period. These submissions should include a description of the planned workshop (e.g., objectives, activities), roundtable (e.g., topics, outcomes) or symposia (e.g., list of presenters, objectives of the session, outcomes of the session).
Selection Process and Criteria
A blind review and selection will be conducted by the abstract review committee. All abstracts have a word limit of 300 words, and 25 words for the title. Any abstract longer than 300 words will not be reviewed.
For poster presentations or oral presentations , all abstract content must be presented under the following four headings for either research studies or practice/community initiatives.
For Workshops, Roundtables or Symposia , all abstract content must be presented under the following headings for either research-based or practice-community based sessions:

Abstract Acceptance Requirements
Submitted abstracts will be acknowledged upon receipt via email and the primary contact author will be notified of acceptance via email by February 10, 2014. The contact author will be asked to confirm the presenting author(s) at the time of acceptance. The successful presenting author(s) must register for the conference by February 28, 2014 to be included in the conference program. All costs to attend the conference are the sole responsibility of presenters. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Eaton Chelsea Hotel.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Abstract Planning Committee based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to current or future field of practice
- Timeliness of the issue
- Quality, innovation and originality
- Relevance to conference delegates
- Clarity and organization
